Audition Notice

Hale Centre Theatre is proud to announce auditions for One-Act Comedy for 2026 Fall Semester. Auditions will be by video submission only and will be done via the link HERE (please no YouTube Shorts) and will be due by 10pm, Friday, August 7th, 2026.

Students will be cast in two, one-act plays about the pitfalls of being a teenager.

Dating can be hard. Especially when your date happens to be a ragin kleptomaniac, or your grandmother's bridge partner, or a mime. Check Please follows a series of blind dinner dates that couldn't get any worse - until they do.

Wendy's Tale
Wendy is brilliant, but she doesn't test well. From her toddlerhood to her high school years, we see how Wendy gets bored with tests and lets her imagination win out over knowledge.

HCT is looking for creative and comedic young actors, ages 13-18 for our One-Act Comedy Troupe. They will be directed by Zac Zumbrunnen. Fee per semester is $300 (there will be a 10% discount for each additional child from the same family). There is no fee to audition.

FOR YOUR VIDEO:
We would like you to slate (please introduce yourself by saying your name and the name of the piece you are performing) and then perform 45-60 seconds of a comedic monologue. Please also film horizontally and submit through an unlisted YouTube link (please no YouTube shorts).

One-Act Comedy will hold weekly rehearsals on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4-5:30pm beginning Wednesday, September 9th, 2026. They will have a showcase at HCT at the end of the semester. The Hale Centre Theatre Fall Showcase will be Wednesday, November 11th.
