Hale Centre Theatre offers summer camps each summer for students ages 8-18. Registration for 2017 will begin April 1, 2017. Details to come.

Students may attend either half-day or full-day. A discount of $10 will be offered for a student attending more than one session, or for more than one member of an immediate family attending the same session.


2017 Summer Performing Arts Day Camp Classes

Class registration begins on April 1 of each year and closes 10 days before the start of each session.


Acting: This class focuses on establishing the "building blocks" of acting with which the students can begin analyzing text and creating characters. Older students may also spend time learning different period acting styles.

Singing: Students will be introduced to the basic components behind proper vocal technique. Using a variety of exercises, they will begin exploring their own musicality and rhythm. Emphasis will be placed on ear training and breath support. More advanced concepts such as harmony are added as students work on specific songs.

Theatre Dance/Movement: Younger students will be taught to utilize their bodies to find their mental and physical centers while developing their imagination and focus. Older students will be provided with a working knowledge of the essential elements involved in dance for the theatre. Styles may include jazz, modern and hip hop.

Special Seminars & Theatre Skills: Students will spend one hour each day with instructors and guest speakers, performers and/or designers who will demonstrate and/or teach their specialty. Topics may include audition techniques, stage combat and "behind-the-scenes" elements such as set, costume, makeup, sound/light design, magic and clowning.


Daily Schedule (Subject to Change):


All six sessions will offer Acting, Dance and Singing from 9:00am to Noon with a Friday showcase.

Odd-Numbered Sessions - From 12:30pm to 4:00pm, the focus will be putting together a mini musical which will be performed on Friday.

Even-Numbered Sessions - From 12:30pm to 4:00pm, the focus includes the following:
          Session 2 - Make-up, costume, and set design
          Session 4 - Basic tap, stage combat and improvisation
          Session 6 - Puppetry, clowning and magic
